Three things I don’t run without

Here are three things I don’t run without.

These three items make my run better and more enjoyable. Sometimes it’s the little things that make a big difference.

Nutrition is one of the most important aspects of running. It’s important to take in calories to keep from bonking while keeping your stomach happy. Here’s my favorite run companion for my nutritional needs.

My GU Energy Labs Refillable Flask for Sports Nutrition Energy Gel, 5.5 Ounce. It makes it easy to keep my nutritional needs on track every run. The flask is super soft, BPA/PVC free and easy to fill. It holds 5 GU or other Gel Packs and has markings on the back to see how much you have used. With the flask, I now can eat small amounts throughout my run, keeping me well fueled without worrying about ingesting too much, too soon.

Lights

Keeping safe on a run is key. Running against traffic doesn’t always mean a driver will see you. Day or night, I don’t run without a light. The super bright light I run with is very noticeable.

The NiteRider (5084) Solas 100 taillight. Technically a bike light, I love the brightness of the light. It is USB rechargeable, and the charge lasts up to 7 hours. It has a built-in clip, making it easy to attach to my shorts or running skirts. This light is bright enough to wear during the day, making me easy for oncoming cars to notice.

Stash my stuff.

Running with a phone, car keys money and other essentials can be tricky. I have found a race belt that is comfortable to wear daily and stash my stuff.

My SPI Race Belt This race belt goes with me on all of my runs. It has an expandable, secure, low-profile pocket. It holds my phone, keys, cash, and credit cards. Pocket expands to 8″ x 4″ x 2″. The belt is super soft, doesn’t chafe and stays in place.
